Sailing and boating are the central focus of Hances Point Yacht Club. The club provides access to the North East River and the Chesapeake Bay. We promote sailing and boating with club by sharing knowledge and comradery on the water. Our members experience level ranges from beginners to coastal cruisers. Several cruises are planned each year including a micro-cruise to nearby Cara’s cove, a great way of trying out an overnight adventure on your boat.
Our location on the North East River is approximately 7 miles from the head of the Chesapeake Bay at the confluence of the Susquehanna, North East and Elk Rivers. A number of great overnight destinations on the Sassafras river, at Still Pond and Worton’s Creek are within a day’s sail.
Hances Point Yacht Club provides a hydraulic lift trailer operated by trained members to launch boats. Our ramp is available to launch member’s trailered boats. We have a floating dock to facilitate loading and unloading boats, temporary docking and docking dinghy’s.
We operate a mooring field and provide an anchored mooring float, members provide their own mooring pendant. Members provide their own dinghy to access their moored boat. Members with dinghies are assigned a shared motor locker for storage of outboard, oars and safety gear. A dingy rack is provided for storage of the dinghy when members are not at the club.
The club operates a no-fee sanitary pump out station for the convenience of its members and the boating public
